India tour of Sri Lanka 2015 (Comeback for senior players and a golden chance for the Indian youngsters)

By

In the recent world cup matches team India came with great enthusiasm framing a slogan WE WONT GIVE IT BACK and so thrilled its fans by getting all 10 of its opponents wickets challenging the some of the best sides like South Africa playing in their best form making its way clear to the quarters and semi-final matches. But they couldn't carry their zeal through semi-finals. The favorite fell at the fence and had to suffer the pain of giving away the world cup. Then they reignited the spirits in Indian fans by saying WE WILL BRING IT BACK. But the recent performances and the form of senior players in team are not up to the mark. Indian boys were taught a lesson in recent Bangladesh tour. All the seniors players failed to give their best against them. Some of these lessons were implemented by upcoming players in the Zimbabwe tour.

Team India arrives at the practice session

But now comes India tour of Srilanka where standards are much higher than the previous tours after world cup. India hasn't won a single test against Srilanka in their homeland since 1993.Players form is a major issue to look upon as they doesn't seem to show themselves on the field. Batting side was poor in quality performance which is never expected from a big team like India. Virat Kohli,India test skipper took a chance to play for India A team against Australia A in order to shine his skills under legend Rahul Dravid for Srilanka's test before hand. But skipper failed to keep up. In practice match with Srilanka the whole batting order including Virat Kohli were down as it was Rahane in batting and all the bowlers who helped the match draw.

Even in these situations Indian team are lighting up the spirits amongst them. Skipper Virat Kohli boosted the players by praising them in a press conference before taking off to Srilanka. Skipper said that he will be going on with his favourite 6-5 combination to take over the Lanka. He added that
Rohit Sharma would be the difference between India losing or winning the test
and praised Rahane for he was giving his best always. Skipper gave a hint that he would like to attack with 3 spinners along his side if needed.

Though the batting order failed to stop its early fall, Ravi Shastri, team director still keeps faith in his boys and says that
The learning curve for the Indian players is over and its time for them to start winning the test.
He adds that his role is to hammer the aggression into the side .India's win is prestigious to Indian team which has not conquered Srilanka at their homeland since long and for Virat who has taken up the test responsibilities in recent past and it is important for him to answer all the people who raised the controversy that he is not in good form and which infact is seen in his early matches since world cup 2015.

This tour provides platform for youngsters like K.L.Rahul to prove themselves and also for some senior players like Amit Mishra,Pujara,Varun Aaron,Ishant Sharma to bag themselves in better position in the side. But the mournful news for the side is that Murali Vijay who has been one of the most consistent scorers in recent times for the test side will not be playing in the first test at Galle as he has not recovered in time to play.

Hope this support and the spirit of Indian team is not let down and Indian boys charge themselves against Srilanka on the field. Please stay updated for individual test statistics of squad.
